At least half of the population of north America will have an STD during their lives. Sexually transmitted diseases are caused by viruses and bacteria. The people who get these sexually transmitted disease are usually ones who do not practice safe sex or have multiple partners and intercourse without a condom. The lesion is usually round and it will look as if some skin is missing. If you have a rash on your body, sometimes on your hands or the bottom of your feet this can be another indicator. Syphilis can be treated with penicillin. If you do not treat syphilis the result can be death.

Gonorrhea and Chlamydia are often described as discharge from either the penis or the vagina. Gonorrhea discharge is usually white where as with Chlamydia discharge is usually very clear. Along with the discharge some other symptoms might be frequent urination and a burning sensation when you urinate. Gonorrhea and Chlamydia can both be easily treated by your doctor. If left untreated for a long period of time both of these diseases could affect a woman’s reproductive organs which could lead her not to conceive.

Genital warts come in different shapes and forms. Some are visible while others are not, the ones that are visible usually look like cysts in your genital area. They may also look like typical warts that you would get in other parts of your body. They can be removed but unfortunately this disease will stay in your body for your life. Sometimes mistake for genital warts are another std called Scabies. These are small looking genital warts, that can be very itchy. If you have scabies you can treat it with the use of creams and also by making sure that you clean your bedding.

Herpes is another common STD. Herpes is often described as a group of small blisters that sting or hurt. They are usually bright red and look as if they are raw. Herpes can be treated by prescribed medicine but a person who has herpes will forever have it and suffer from an outbreak of sores through out their lives.

If you do have an STD it is not the end of the world. You can go on living your life normally, but it is important that you take proper care and treat it.
